Wow. I love weird surrealist art with a cartoonish quality. These paintings by artist Mark Ryden at the Frye in Seattle look awesome. I wonder if my five year old budding artist daughter would be interested, bored, or terrified?

And who says abstraction is dead? Actually, our oldest daughter seems to have moved backward into Impressionism based on the preponderance of flowers, suns, and assorted animals that provide a running motif in her overall body-of-work. Our youngest is a unrepentant formalist.
