Childhood Sketch

Sketch by Julia, October, 2006

Sketch by Julia, October, 2006

I scanned this image nearly two years ago and only recently rediscovered it. At the time I thought it quite remarkable for its point-of-view and interesting proportions. The spareness of it is intriguing. It’s amazing what can be done with just a few lines going in all the right directions.  It’s a testament to the unihibited imagination of children.

Funny, if you had not attributed this sketch to your young daughter, I might have guessed it was an early piece by Rivera or Picasso.

Not sure if that’s disrespectful to The Cubists, or a huge compliment to Julia.

Take it as the latter! :-)
