Seven

Seems like ages since I’ve thought about posting to this blog. That’s because I’ve been busy with other projects. For instance, I’ve just completed my seventh year as a dad. Our oldest daughter turned seven today. She’s a fantastic girl. I almost wrote “little girl” but she isn’t anymore. She’s a person now. She can read, write, and speak in front of large groups of complete strangers. She can take charge of a group of kids and get them to do things, sometimes surprising things, like recite a funny verse in unison or put on a costume show. She’s a bundle of energy. She stays switched on from the moment she wakes to the very instant she falls asleep. To her credit, she’s figured out how to use her energy for good rather than for evil. And while I often find myself exasperated beyond endurance by her incessant activity, I admire her greatly and couldn’t be happier about who she is and who she is becoming.

This is just the sweetest post ever! (gush gush)
Someone somewhere at sometime said that when you see a person at 7 years old, you are seeing who she will be always. I was never any good at remembering quotes, but I did manage to get the concept. I was very thoughtful about it when Daughter #1 was 7. 7 is a great age! Your daughter is incredibly lucky to have such a caring and admiring father. That will serve her well her entire life.
