MacBook: get sharp!

I got hands-on with the new Apple MacBook today. I had hopes it would make a good machine to replace my decrepit PC at home. Wrong. As I reached for the keyboard my wrists were nearly sliced open by the incredibly sharp edge of the case.

MacBook gets sharp at the edge

What was Apple thinking? Does Steve Jobs want me to shed blood for him? Apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks the sharp edge is a problem.

What irks me is that even typing with proper wrist posture doesn’t help; using the trackpad gives me unavoidable welts. I’m completely puzzled as to how this made it past testing, when I realized within minutes it was a problem. A sleek, sharp look is nice - like tight-fitting, rock-hard, knee-high leather boots - but when it comes down to a long-term investment, I don’t think ordinary comfort is a wise sacrifice. One of the Mac forum users suggested 300 grit sandpaper and 10 minutes worth of careful effort; it apparently was quite effective for him/her. I’m afraid to start sanding away my new Macbook, however. What truly confuses me is how all the recent debacles with the new Macbooks seem to be things the buyers discovered within hours.
