Vista most secure OS ever

Reported today in BetaNews:

Microsoft senior vice president Bob Muglia opened up TechEd 2006 in Boston Sunday evening by proclaiming that Windows Vista was the most secure operating system in the industry.

I managed to download a copy of Beta 2 and I’ll be damned if I can find a computer around here capable of running it. The system requirements for the full Vista experience are hefty, and my not-that-old Dell D600 didn’t pass the test.

I think Muglia’s “most secure” claim is probably true. What could be more secure than an OS you can’t run?

What are the specs for your machine?

Thought I might get your attention with this post, Jim. It’s a Pentium M 1.6 GHz w/ 1GB RAM and a 40GB hard drive. It fails miserably on the Aero test because it only has 32MB VRAM (which is pretty common on a business-class laptop). And I’ve not got enough free space to do a dual-boot.

My new D620 should be able to handle Vista, but it’s my production machine. The problem is finding a non-production machine with the specs needed.

Yeah, you should be able to run Vista. You won’t get the glass effects with the graphics card you’ve got.

Everything else should be fine as long as you don’t dualboot.
