Put it on ice
I started off the new year by putting my personal blog on ice. I did it for a few reasons:
- I was getting pissed off by the time wasted dealing with comment spam despite using MT-Blacklist and obfuscating my commenting apparatus.
- I started blogging because I was interested in the tools of blogging (Movable Type, Perl, PHP, Apache, etc.) as well as learning XHTML and CSS. I have reached a level of understanding of such things such that I feel satisfied. Time for a break.
- The content of my blog was uninteresting even to me. The pressure of “just post something, anything” was inducing me to post crap, often embarrasing crap that I later regreted putting up in public. In short, I felt I had needlessly over-exposed my ignorance.
- A couple of creepy online interractions, where my blog played an integral role, made me understand that certain details of my life should not be shared with the world.
So my blog is was no longer available to the world.
Update: I have just recently decided to start up the blog again. I’ve got some new ideas for it. It was good to take a break, however.
